Compare Kiplot

Strategic portfolio management without legacy complexity or lightweight compromise

Enterprise organizations have had to choose between platforms that are difficult to implement and lighter tools that cannot support complex portfolios. Kiplot brings financial control, governance, capacity planning, and hybrid delivery into a platform that is easier to implement, change, and use.

Strategic Portfolio Management software comparison

How does Kiplot compare to Planview, Planisware and Clarity?

Planview, Planisware and Clarity are proven enterprise platforms, with AI now a core part of enterprise portfolio capability. The question is whether operating models shaped by the last decade still fit how modern enterprises want to run the next one.

In summary

Planview and Planisware are highly configurable enterprise platforms. That flexibility is valuable when an organization already has a mature operating model it wants the software to reproduce. The starting point is typically the requirements: define how you want the system to work, then configure the platform around them.

Kiplot starts differently. It provides a strong operating model for how strategy, funding, capacity, governance and delivery should work together, then helps organizations adapt their processes to get the most from it. The platform remains configurable, but configuration is not the objective. Solving the portfolio problem well is.

That distinction has practical consequences. Organizations spend less time designing the system, users can generally work in Kiplot without formal training, and routine change stays with the portfolio team rather than specialist administrators. If the priority is to preserve a highly bespoke operating model, the incumbents have an advantage. If the priority is to improve the operating model and bring proven practice into the organization, Kiplot is built for that.

Method, and 20 sources with retrieval dates

Kiplot produced and funded this comparison, verified 1 September 2026 against Planview Portfolios, Planisware Enterprise and Broadcom Clarity, each vendor’s enterprise portfolio product rather than a lighter tier. Every competitor statement is drawn from a published source named in the list below: the vendor’s own documentation, a regulatory filing, a public company filing, or a named implementation partner’s published material. Where a vendor publishes nothing that answers a dimension, the cell says what the vendor does document rather than inferring a figure.

Enterprise capability without the usability trade-off

Usability and adoption

Enterprise depth without a training program

Deep enterprise capability only creates value when the people running the portfolio can use it directly. Kiplot combines financial, resource and governance depth with an interface designed for finance, delivery and executive users, with little formal end-user training.

Kiplot configurable portfolio dashboard
Configuration and time to value

No-code configuration, live in weeks

Kiplot typically reaches a working portfolio model in weeks, then evolves as the operating model develops. Hierarchies, governance and workflows are configured without code, and routine changes stay with the portfolio team rather than requiring a vendor request.

Which platform is right for your organization?

Kiplot is the strongest fit for organizations that want deep enterprise portfolio capability without building a specialist product function around it. Planview becomes more compelling when the wider Planview ecosystem is part of the requirement; Planisware when highly bespoke operating models or deep project controls justify the additional complexity; and Clarity when Broadcom ValueOps is already strategic to the organization.

Kiplot: deep enterprise capability without the specialist overhead

Choose Kiplot when you need enterprise financial management, resource and capacity planning, governance, prioritization and hybrid delivery in a platform that portfolio teams can operate directly.

Kiplot brings a strong operating model for how strategy, funding, capacity, governance and delivery should work together, then helps organizations adapt their processes to get the most from it. Routine configuration stays with the portfolio team, formal end-user training is typically limited, and Jira and Azure DevOps connect directly inside the product. AI agents and automation are built into the same platform, rather than added as a separate product layer.

Planview: when the wider Planview ecosystem is part of the requirement

Choose Planview when the organization wants portfolio management as part of a broader Planview environment spanning planning, delivery, Agile work, architecture or adjacent use cases.

That breadth is a genuine advantage when those capabilities are required. Where the requirement is primarily enterprise portfolio management, it also introduces a larger product and services footprint to configure, integrate and maintain.

Planisware: when configurability or deep project control is the requirement

Choose Planisware when the organization needs highly bespoke processes, deep project controls or specialist scheduling capability. Planisware can accommodate an exceptional range of requirements, including advanced scheduling, WBS, PERT and earned value management.

That flexibility is valuable when preserving a particular operating model is the objective. Where the organization instead wants to improve its operating model and bring proven portfolio practice into the business, Kiplot takes a more opinionated and less specialist-dependent approach.

Clarity: when ValueOps is already part of the environment

Choose Clarity when the organization is already invested in Broadcom ValueOps and wants portfolio management to sit alongside Rally, ConnectALL and the wider Broadcom environment.

Where ValueOps is not itself part of the requirement, that surrounding architecture adds more product surface around portfolio management. Kiplot provides a more direct route from portfolio decisions to existing delivery systems.
